A Rock & Roll Legend in Marzahn, Berlin.
Last week, straight from arriving in Berlin, Pat came to our school in Marzahn and gave an insightful, rich music tour through his life and through his biggest influences.
Pat shared his musical history from Little Richard to Bonham to Carlock, told war stories from the road with Bryan Adams and smashed the living sh*t out of the drums.
In a world now, where 30 second odd time septuplet grooving, metric-modulating, stick-trick twirling, fire-breathing drummers are dominating our social media feeds, you know why he has lasted so long in the business. Preparation, passion and a serious work-ethic.
It doesn’t matter whether it is to an intimate group of 15 drummers or to a faceless stadium crowd of 30,000 people. Pat still brings the same love and intensity to the music wherever he goes.
The following evening, Pat took to the Sommergarten outdoor stage with Bryan Adams and played a powerful set for 2 hours.
A massive thank you goes out to the man who put us in contact, our dear friend and incredible drummer, Randy Black.
