A Drummer’s Weekend Recap

Ramon Montagner Masterclass and the International DrummerMeeting Salzgitter.

If you have been following us on social media then you know exactly how busy this whole week has been.

We hosted the 36th International Drummer Meeting in Salzgitter alongside our dear friends Salzgitter Kultur, and then the Brazilian drumming genius Ramon Montagner joined us in Berlin for a mind-melting drum clinic.

In Salzgitter, 10 world-class drummers from Brazil to Hungary come and share their decades of knowledge about drumming with a group of passionate and inspiring musicians. It was 4 days of pure love, nerding-out and community at the longest running drumming festival in this country.

We owe weekends like these to all the companies that organise and fund these events. This year , Sonor, Tama, Meinl, GEWA, Gretsch, and Paiste all really came through. You guys are really the backbone of events like this and help us bring top-level music education to people for a very low cost, especially at a time when a Döner kebab costs €7.50.

The day after, we hosted the incredibly talented Ramon Montagner at our school here in Berlin. It was an intensive 2 hour clinic, where Ramon explained his systems for developing Brazilian phrasing and went deep into his push-pull and slide technique, paying close attention to each participant’s individual technique, and showing them how it is done!

A massive thank you goes out to everyone, who came to the masterclass and to Ramon himself for sharing his decades of work, mastering the craft. We hope to see you all again soon!
